Wine from La Rioja

Excellent bottle of the undisputed best Rioja vintage of the last century. Really hard to find bottles with this level, label and capsule.
Kept in our temperature-controlled cellar in pristine conditions. Ready to drink.
Elaboration:80% Tempranillo - 20% Grenache - 13% AlcoholIt remains for 12 months in large wooden tanks where it undergoes malolactic fermentation and rests before being racked for subsequent aging. The wine matures for 60 months In 225-litre semi-new barrels, 70% American oak and 30% French oak. Tasting Notes
Considered by many to be 'the vintage of the century', the 1964 growing season saw perfect conditions, exactly 200 days of vegetative cycle and the 1964 Viña Real received the category of Special Reserve from CVNE. The parameters were also textbook: 13.42% alcohol and bottled in June 1969...
A great bottle from 1964, powerful and expressive, still showing some fruit (a mix of red and black fruits) with lots of spicy and tertiary notes, undergrowth, truffles, mushrooms, polished but still with some influence. The history is there, and good bottles should have a long life ahead of them.
Jancis Robinson:
Medium ruby. Intense, glorious and wonderfully complex aroma that is fully ripe. Very complete with just a little bit of texture granulosity. Light in terms of structure but still vibrant fruit. Not sweet, more on the side of tannic structure, yet! Second bottle with a slightly softer and very lively texture. Intoxicating notes of licorice. But so delicate.
18.5/20 points.(JR 2014)
